The duPont-Columbia Awards are offering two student duPont Fellow positions to help with Awards’ administrative and production work during the academic year. The duPont-Columbia Awards are the audio and video counterpart to the Pulitzer Prizes (which are also administered at the JSchool.) The duPonts honor outstanding local and national broadcast, documentary and on-line work.

  • Fellows must have a familiarity with American audio and video news media landscape.
  • Fellows will assist in the administrative work of selecting duPont Award-winning reporting, help prepare for the Awards ceremony in the winter 2026, including  other work related to the winners.
  • In addition, they will assist with special events sponsored by the duPont Awards (including our On Assignment Podcast and winner events), help organize and preserve our digital archive, and create content for the web site and social media.
  • Audio/video production/editing, social media and photoshop/online design experience preferred.

The two students will each receive $10,000 as a tuition grant. The selected candidates will commit to work 10 hours per week throughout the academic year, but fair warning - there is an additional workload in December and January leading up to the ceremony when students are working on their masters' projects.  Every effort will be made to accommodate students’ academic responsibilities. Fellows are not permitted to miss class.

*Fellows are required to attend the duPont Jury weekend Sat., Nov 1 and Sun., Nov 2 and the Jan 28th Awards Ceremony. During the Jury weekend, Fellows will have an extraordinary opportunity to see behind-the-scenes when the jury selects the year's best video and audio journalism from around the country. Fellows will speak at the ceremony. IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND ANY OF THESE DATES, PLEASE DO NOT APPLY.

**TO LEARN MORE:  attend an information session on Monday August 18th time/place TBD.

TO APPLY:  To select two full-time M.S. students who are able to combine their interest in audio/video journalism with the heavy demands of the master's degree program, we require you to submit a one-paragraph answer to each of the  questions in this form.  Deadline to apply is Mon, August 25, 5 PM.

PLEASE NOTE: Only 2025-26 FULL-time M.S. students with financial need, who have some actual audio/video experience (basic hands on production preferred) and/or plan to take an audio or video I&S module in the fall semester should  apply.
